We are a community of believers who have confessed our faith in Jesus Christ. Our mission is based on two scripture texts:

"What the Lord requires of us is this: to do what is just, to show constant love, and to love in humble fellowship with our God."
Micah 6:8

"Go then, to all people everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember! I will be with you always, to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:19-20

We come together to worship, to grow in loving support of one another and others, and to give thanks for God's grace in our loves. We seek the ever-deepening presence of the Holy Spirit for a fuller, more joyful Christian life, for ourselves, our congregation, our community, our country, and the world at large.

Please join us for worship every Sunday morning at 9:30 am. All are welcome!

WELCOME NEW MUSIC DIRECTOR DR. DONALD WIGGINS!

The congregation of Drew United Methodist Church welcomes Dr. Donald G. Wiggins to our staff as Music Director.   Thank you to the Music Search committee, Staff-Parish Relations committee, and Rev. Karen for their work during our search.  Donald is an operatic tenor, an outstanding choral director who has served churches in Westchester County, NY, as well as Washington, D.C., and more.  He teaches voice in New York and Washington, D.C., and is currently conducting an opera in Washington, “Rigoletto.”  Don has conducted many professional opera and musical theater productions as well as symphonies and choral works.  He has given concert and oratorio tenor solo performances.  These include works by Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, and many more composers. His wife Mary is also an opera singer and teaches music.  Welcome Don!   We look forward to our work together. We are very blessed to have Don on our staff.

John Wesley, one of the founders of Methodism, experienced his heart being "strangely warmed" by the Holy Spirit while at a prayer meeting in London. He experienced personally the love that God had for him in Jesus Christ. That love of Christ overflowed through Wesley to the people he and his brother Charles and others in the 19th century revival movement touched: persons in need of low cost medicines at their London infirmary, persons in prison needing a visit, persons who found Christ through them and the travelling preachers they commissioned, both in England and here in North America, who prayed and learned more of God in small groups called "class meetings." It is now 2008, but Jesus Christ is still alive and the Holy Spirit is at work in hearts and minds, kindling the fire of love and holy passion to help those in need in the world! We desire to be "heart warmed United Methodists, in mission for the transformation of the world," to quote a portion of our NY Conference Methodist Mission Statement. You can "Warm Hearts with Us!"

"Second Saturday" and weekly Sunday Worship Services, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Confirmation Classes, United Methodist Men's Fellowship, Music ministry - these are just a few of the ways we warm hearts together with Christ. We also join with all other United Methodist churches in supporting Methodist-founded Africa University, the Black College Fund, World Service fund, and other outreach in our nation and around the globe. In addition, our volunteer-run Thrift Shop, monthly food collections and seasonal gift and monetary collections for those in need help us to carry on the mission of Wesley and the early Methodists to the poor and marginalized. Help us increase the degree of support for the ministries of Drew United Methodist Church by adding your pledge of financial support, raising the temperature on our thermometer! To make a weekly, monthly, or annual pledge to Drew, contact Rev. Burger at the church office at (845) 225-2019 or email us at drewumc@bestweb.net. Or you may simply wish to mail a donation to us at Drew United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 900, Carmel, NY 10512. We will send you a thank you letter/statement for your records. We thank you in advance for your gifts for ministry.
